Mini Vacation/ Road Trip, Oyster Fest, and Thanksgiving dinner

I recently decided it was time I had some time off of work. Having been so tired of the hustle and bustle of flying and dashing from plane to plane, I decided I would go ahead and drive to our show in Peoria, IL only 1103 miles from Richmond, no big deal right? It actually wasn't so bad, but it was a hell of a lot of driving. Peoria was surprisingly nice, i was there over Halloween and ended up going to the river boat casino, having lunch with an old colleague Sharon, and hittin' the club(s). I took off on Tuesday evening and stopped in Chicago to have dinner with another old friend, and destroyed the Old Country Buffet. I hit the road again, Cleveland bound. I got in around midnight, and settled into my super awesome hotel room with a view of Lake Erie, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and Browns Stadium. I went the the Great Lakes Science center the next morning, and browsed around before heading out to Elyria to see my cousins and have dinner. Back Downtown to my hotel, this time the Hyatt at the Arcade. what an awesome place. I have said it before and I'll say it again, I really love Cleveland.

Once I got back to RIchmond, I packed up to head down to Urbanna for the annual Oyster Fest, Which is a HUGE DEAL. My family was going to sail over and dingy in and out all weekend, but something came up, and they stayed in Richmond, so instead i went to the Bethpage Camp Resort where Terri was staying with some friends. That was such an awesome place, and btw I found a spot that I want to buy there. We stayed up all night camp firing and drinking, and just talking to everyone around.

The next morning was Festival time, which is nothing more than a giant festival of fried seafood, music, and drinking.

Terri and I found a spot in a tree on the corner to watch the parade. after that we walked around practically aimlessly all day, eating any form of fried seafood there was, and drinking everything in sight. Returning to the campground we enjoyed dinner, beer, and another long night at the campfire. We woke up at some point the next morning with time to tidy up, head back to richmond, and head to Kevin and Nicoles for Thanksgiving Dinner.

cruefest 09!!

Dang y'all, I cant believe how long it has been since I've taken the time to make a proper blog post. But alas, here I am. Last week, I finally got a week off, I took the time off originally just for Cruefest '09 in Virginia Beach, and also took advantage of the time to move some things from my apartment, and to chill my drunk ass on the beach. I got into my car on Thrusday night, made the super tedious drive down I-64 and got to the home of Krissy's girlfriend Heather. We started drinking, and decided it best to go to The Wave, Norfolk's hoppin little gay bar, Got super drunk, and got lucky, more than once that night!! All those navy men, i tell ya!!
The next morning went well, as well as it could with one of the most wicked hangovers I have had! I thought it would be a smash to go to Bojangle's for a breakfast biscuit, so we set out on our journey, it was such a hot day, and for watever reason, I could not find that frickin Bojangle's to save my life. after about an hour, we settled for mexican food, which quickly found itself jumping out of my stomach. still hngry, cranky, and definately in need of sleep, we went back to the house, and began work on our hair and attire for the show.

The show was to start at 5:30, so we left the house around 7ish, Holy shit it was redneck central up in there! never have i seen so many mulletts, rat tails, and over bleached, over teased hair in my life. Its all good, we were just a group of queers going to see a rock show! it went well!

I was pleased this year, the Motley Crue had their ussual over-the-top carnival-esque, surgical, medically themed dancers on stage, where as last year they did not. That's the M.Crue i have come to love!
After the show we went to another gay bar, called the Rainbow Cactus, in Va Beach, it was a good time, I was still way too hungover to think, so I did not drink like a should have that night, I did also pass up on an apportunity to hook up with one of the hottest guys ever, something i may regret for a while. Its ok though, the weekend was still awash with good times, and drunken debauchery. All- in- all, another good time with my girl Krissy!!
When I got back to the Cap-City, i needed to desperately move my stuff out of my apartment, so I answered a plea by my friend Matt, who was looking for a ride to the beach. I said to him, if he would help me move, we could go to the beach straight away. Thats just what we did, The move only took a few hours, and we were on the road, cooler packed, gas tank full, we set course for Sandbridge. He had recently met a girl from California, who was visiting the beach, so after destroying an ENTIRE cooler of beer, we head towards the strip, and hit the clubs.

After another Long Long day came to an end, it was time to hit the road back to Richmond, and get back to my normal life, off to the airport the next morning, and back to work.

Cleveland still rocks!

By now most folks know that i am in the midst of a career transition. My final day at work was yesterday, in Columbus, OH. I need to be in Erie, PA on thursday morning in order to start the new one. so I rented myself a car, and took myself up to Cleveland. I have family up here, and thought I might take advantage of the time to visit them.

Before i really take off, I should take a minute to really shout out to Budget rent-a-car in Port- Columbus Interntaional Airport. I have a ford fusion at home, love it, and when i made my reservation that is what i requested. When I got to the airport, I was devastated to hear that that is not what they had for me, They did however have a chrysler sebring. i uttered a very simple and under my breath "i dont like those" and the lovely lady, called Beverly, behind the desk jumped to find something else. I ensures her it wasnt so serious, but she replied with "we dont have what you ordered, and we will find something you like." Well it must be a busy day in Columbus, because she had nothing else. She then walked over to the Avis counter, where she secured a BRAND NEW Dodge Charger, a serious serious upgrade from a ford fusion, i said "i couldnt possibly!" she said, the upgrade would be free, and then further sweetened the deal by throwing in a free navigation system, and free fuel service, i can return the car on empty, and they will refill it! By the way, this car is a moving wet dream, and im likely going to buy one.

So now I am in Cleveland. My cousin and her husband are working for the morning so I decided I might just go downtown. Of course it a disgusting, cold, rainy day. But I like those. Cleveland is a large city, right on the southern shore of Lake Erie. There are a lot of banker types moving about, and a lot of "emo" artistic types.I came to the starbucks in Public Square, and even the suits seem to have a more laid- back tone about them. I was lucky enough to get a window seat, and busted out my laptop. With my trusty apple infused chai, and perfect oatmeal, i can type away, listen to the music, and stare out at the misty skyline, as I look up the buildings, my eyes dont get too far before the clouds and rain take control. Still its nice, thoughtful. I think after this I may just return my computer to the car, and walk over to the lake. it could only be so bad. well everyone seems to be having a reasonably lovely thursday morning, and I am too. I cant wait to start my new job, and am really enjoying this day of nothing here in Cleveland, OH.
